When you work across offices and continents, travel becomes more than logistics, it’s a chance to feel the pulse of another team, another culture, another home. That’s why we asked our colleagues to build the kind of city guide only they could build: full of hidden gems, honest tips and a real sense of what it means to live and work in each place.
Every time we pack a carry-on for a work trip – whether it’s to Vilnius, New York, or Tel Aviv – we know we’re not just flying in for face-2-face meetings and project kickoffs. We’re chasing local context. Culture. Curiosity.
With more than 5,000 people spread across Wix’s offices worldwide, collaboration often means crossing time zones – not just sending calendar invites. And while that global reach is one of our biggest strengths, it also presents a challenge: staying connected across distance, culture and day-to-day reality.
So we asked ourselves: how do you bridge the space between offices – not with decks or all-hands meeting, but with something more human?
That’s how Wix City Guides came to life.
We turned to the one resource we trust most: our people. Colleagues from every office - some of the coolest people around the globe, each in their own city - shared their local favorites, secret spots, city hacks and culture insights. The result is a growing digital guide – not for only tourists, but for teammates. For us.
What started as a side project quickly became something bigger: a global, community-first initiative to help us feel closer across cities and roles, while also highlighting the uniqueness and the local spark of every Wix site.
Because at Wix, we’ve learned that the most powerful kind of employer branding isn’t about flashy campaigns. It’s about connection. It’s about how employees feel at work – how valued they feel, not just professionally, but personally. And more importantly, how much they feel part of something bigger.
“The most meaningful things we do for our employee experience don’t always look like ‘classic employee experience’ work. They look like someone in Vilnius showing someone from Tel Aviv where to find the best soup.” - Niv Farchi
City Guides is our answer to that.
It’s not tied to a product launch.
It’s not another hackathon.
It’s not a polished onboarding tool.
It’s an honest, cross-Wix collaboration built to do one thing: help us feel closer.
In Tel Aviv, our designers map out art walks through Florentin. In New York, data analysts swear by a late-night ramen spot five minutes from the office. In Vilnius, engineers recommend a sign-less food truck that makes the best dumplings in town. These aren’t just cool spots, they’re invitations to explore another culture. Each one says: this is our city – let us show you around.

As Niv Farchi, Head of our Design Guild, puts it: “The most meaningful things we do for our employee experience don’t always look like the ‘classic employee experience’ work. They look like someone in Vilnius showing someone from Tel Aviv where to find the best soup.”
We now have over 1,000 recommendations, personally shared by Wix employees around the world. And while it started as an internal tool, we couldn’t help ourselves – we started sharing it with friends. With family. With anyone who asked, “Hey, I’m flying to Krakow this weekend – any tips?”
Because yes, it’s useful. But more than that, it reflects who we are. Our curiosity. Our hospitality. Our quirky local knowledge. And our belief that being part of something global should never feel distant.
Wix City Guides is not your typical employee experience initiative.
It does something better:
It closes the gap between offices. It creates pride. It builds belonging. And for us, that’s the kind of employee experience we’re proud to carry in our carry-ons.
This holiday season, explore Wix City Guides - built by Wix people, for anyone who loves discovering cities through local eyes.

Love the Wix City Guides such great travel inspo! Also shocked at how Dunkin prices keep going up but still worth it for a good coffee on the road!
Wix City Guides are a great way to explore cities through local eyes. By 2090, guides might even highlight history’s challenges, like areas affected by Agent Orange, giving travelers deeper context
I really enjoyed the perspective shared in this article. As someone who works in the tech space, I'm always looking for ways to streamline my workflow. This google image generator has been one of my favorite discoveries this month for generating quick, high-quality visuals. Keep up the great work!
