Learn more about how we chose the perfect design community to build a new space for exceptional designs and the joy of creation.
Design is at the heart of Wix’s operations. From product development to branding and marketing activities, to our organization’s culture and our identity, design is a huge part of everything we do.
With the evolution and diversification of our products and offerings, the Design guild at Wix is evolving too, and taking on more and more design tasks, including new task profiles.
Like the design world as a whole, Wix’s Design guild is at a strategic crossroads where we’re ready to enhance our support for new types of design projects across an ever-growing variety of fields. In 2025, our design organization, which currently includes around 300 professionals, is set to grow further.
“When it comes to scaling beyond a few individual designers, there are numerous questions to consider,” said Niv Farchi, Head of the Wix Design guild. “For example, should we expand existing design teams or establish new studios? What type of designer are we looking for? What should design leadership look like? How do we assess the potential of design communities to ensure a sustainable studio? In 2025, we chose to launch two new hubs, largely driven by the understanding that a designer’s cultural background is a key factor in their work. The more culturally diverse our Design guild becomes, the better it will be at delivering long-term excellence.”
“Wix has extensive experience in building design teams of various sizes and disciplines, which has allowed us to accumulate significant knowledge over the years,” added Hagit Kaufman, VP of Design and Brand at Wix. “Even before we began researching design communities in Europe — mainly in countries where we already have active and thriving offices — we refined our criteria to select the right community for us.”
At Wix, we don’t use the word “community” lightly. When establishing a new hub, the design community that it will grow is the most crucial influence. Studios are built within the ecosystem of design communities, more so than in cities or countries.
The key criteria
In order for our hub to thrive, the community we choose to set roots in has to…
Have a high level of design excellence and a wide range of design disciplines
Demonstrate consistent growth and potential, so we can grow alongside it
Have a strong sense of respect for the design profession and the joy of creation
Fit Wix’s unique culture
Our research covered numerous design communities across Europe — some of them well-established design communities like Berlin and Amsterdam, and others emerging communities like Vilnius, Tbilisi and Kyiv, as well as several cities with strong design schools. When we summed up the research, combining talent, growth potential and cultural fit with Wix, the answer was clear: Kyiv, here we come!
In Kyiv, Ukraine, you’ll find one of the largest and most vibrant design communities in Europe, with strong design schools and a hungry, growing community that has thrived despite the devastating war. On top of that, Kyiv is home to one of Wix’s largest global offices, with hundreds of employees. We’re already familiar with Ukrainian culture and, in many ways, draw inspiration from it.
During 2025, we’ll establish the Wix Kyiv Design Hub — a new studio made up of dozens of designers who will support large-scale design and content projects. We can’t wait to get started!

Over the years, we’ve learned that one of the most effective and exciting ways to connect with and integrate into a design community is through a student program. This coming summer, for the first time, we’ll be hosting our student program, ‘Playground Academy,’ in Kyiv, where we’ll get to know the next generation of this unique community up close. Follow us to stay updated!
At a time when the design profession is undergoing significant change, we’re incredibly excited about this new hub in Kyiv. It’ll be joining our existing design presence in Tel Aviv and New York. This expansion will add a unique cultural dimension to our Design guild and help us continue making the internet smarter, usable, and of course, more beautiful.
"In 2025, we decided to launch two new hubs - in Kyiv and Vilnius - based on our belief that a designer’s cultural background plays a critical role in their work. The more culturally diverse our Design Guild becomes, the better equipped we’ll be to achieve long-term excellence." - Niv Farchi
