When we asked Dafi Harel, Operations Manager in our People team at the NYC office, what helps top talent bring their best selves, her answer surprised us. Her day job is building plans and removing roadblocks so every Wix employee can shine, but alongside Caitlin Carr, Anthony Rodriguez and Yaara Schattner, she’s also been on a side-mission; together the team spoke to many high-performing employees across Wix to see if they shared any common ground. Spoiler alert: she found that common ground.
After dozens of conversations, a clear pattern emerged. No matter the role – whether it be sales, finance, customer care or marketing – every standout Wix employee shared a handful of the same habits and mindsets. Here are the eight principles Dafi gathered from her research that any employee can put into practice today.
Soft skills are the key to success
Here’s the thing: nobody joins Wix without the hard skills. We treat hard skills as given. What really makes you stand out is how you share the work you do – reaching out, telling the story of why it matters and getting the right colleagues excited. In our company, having a knack for communication is pure gold.
You own your growth
Growth is your personal project. Do you want to lead a team? Or dive into a new discipline? You map the path, and Wix backs you with guild workshops, cross-team projects and one-on-one coaching. Fun fact: nearly 70% of our leaders were promoted from within. – proof that we practice what we preach.
"Growth is a journey you own – whether it’s vertical or horizontal."
Dive in

From day one, you’ll own projects that in other places might take years to . That level of trust and autonomy is given, but it’s up to you to work hard and drive your projects forward. Initiative is key when it comes to standing out.
Your manager should be your co-pilot on your growth journey
Yes, autonomy is important at Wix, but that doesn’t mean your direct manager shouldn’t help you along the way! Your manager should treat your career like a co-created roadmap – mapping your interests, pointing you towards growth opportunities and connecting you with the right people.
"Your manager is your co-pilot. They help you find blind spots and open doors you didn’t even know existed."
Feedback should be given daily
At Wix, feedback is constant – and it’s on you to ask for it. Quick check-ins keep you aligned, let you pivot fast and mirror the agile loops we use in our product.
So, ask for feedback. Not just from your manager, but also from your colleagues. Don’t wait for it.
Build real connections
In a company that doesn’t place emphasis on hierarchy, your network is your strength – tell people what you’re working on and ask for their help. At Wix, visibility is everything – people can’t support what they don’t know about. So be friendly and share project updates in team channels or even with colleagues working in different teams. Identify who needs to know about your wins and reach out directly. Communicating your work clearly is how you get the support you need to move it forward.
"We throw you into the deep end – if you swim, people notice."
Recognize opportunities
The sweet spot for opportunity is where your strengths, passions and the company’s needs overlap. Identify that overlap and you’ll have the real blueprint for success.
So what’s the main takeaway? Thriving at Wix isn’t about any single perk or title – it’s about owning your journey, mastering soft skills and building the right relationships. Do that, and you won’t just fit in here – you’ll lead the way.
