Business Analysis at Wix
Business Analysts at Wix focus on turning raw data into compelling narratives and strategic insights, significantly influencing business decisions. Learn more about their methods and experiences in the interview below!
What's the “Wix way” of doing business analysis?
Amir: At Wix, analysis isn't just numbers, it's storytelling. Numbers alone don't mean anything without the narrative.
Rotem: We emphasize seeing the big picture. Wix is large, with many products and countless variables, so only when viewing things holistically, can we deliver insights that truly change the game.
What's the main difference between being a business analyst at a big company like Wix vs. a small startup?
Rotem: In smaller companies, business analyst and data engineer roles often overlap; typically one person handles everything. At Wix, you can fully focus on deep analysis because the data groundwork is prepared by others.
Amir: Big companies have vast resources and experienced stakeholders. Usually, someone has faced your same problem before, so the quality and relevance of your insights improve significantly.

"our job is to test gut feelings with reality. This makes a BA a true business partner." - Amir
What is an impactful project you worked on this year?
Rotem: We held a three-day hackathon called "Imp-Hack-Thon," aimed at growth initiatives. Many innovative ideas from this event moved into research or development in mixed small groups of BAs and Data engineers . For instance, leveraging existing email marketing data to show clients clearly how much revenue they generated from sources like Google Ads.
What was an exciting professional discovery you made?
Rotem: Wix's Package Picker (that allows users to select pricing alternatives) has evolved multiple times. Our analysis showed how shifting user behaviors and digital trends make previously unsuccessful approaches relevant again.
Amir: It's similar to phone size trends – we used to think the smaller the better, but now our smartphones are getting bigger again. Trends change, and business analysts have to make sure we're always heading in the right direction.
"In Wix's Data Student Program, graduates don’t just learn SQL—they become confident communicators and insightful storytellers." - Rotem
What makes an excellent business analyst?
Rotem: Curiosity and the ability to question things. Excellent analysts always dig deeper, turning surface-level queries into meaningful insights. They help stakeholders uncover the real challenges behind their initial queries.
Amir: Challenging organizational assumptions. Your job is to test gut feelings with reality. This makes a BA a true business partner.

What are the benefits of joining Wix’s Data Student Program?
Rotem: The Data Student Program at Wix deeply equips participants – not just with technical skills such as SQL, but also with stakeholder management and storytelling abilities. Our graduates become confident communicators who ask insightful questions.
Why become a business analyst at Wix?
Rotem: I've been here for 12 years, which in my opinion speaks volumes. Wix's Business Analyst Guild is one of the top-tier professional groups in the country, recognized externally for its exceptional standards.
Amir: "We measure everything" is a core value here at Wix. Working at Wix means your analysis impacts millions of users. Few workplaces offer such broad influence.
What's your top user insight?
Amir: Users rarely scroll all the way down to the bottom of a page, so put critical messages upfront. They also usually prefer blue buttons, and clear instructions over open-ended questions.
