Wix on Wix: 3 Wix websites built by Wix employees

They say you have to practice what you preach - so when we say that anyone can build an amazing site on Wix, we have the receipts to prove it. Continue reading to discover sites built by none-other than our very own employees, who created tailored experiences, where design transforms an idea into an interactive journey.

Appearia is a software company whose mastery of virtual and augmented reality makes them stand out in their field. Their website, a futuristic and engaging showcase of their expertise, mirrors their spirit with a bold and intuitive layout and interactive elements. The website reflects their philosophy of imagination knowing no limits - yes, just like creating websites on Wix’s platforms.

Or, what motivated you to design this particular website?

“The timing for this project was perfect, like a cosmic alignment. As part of the ASAY (A Site A Year) initiative, I am tasked with designing a website every year. Coincidentally, a close friend who runs 'Appearia' was in need of a website. It's hard to imagine any designer passing up the opportunity to develop a website that aims to translate the VR experience to the web. This involved working with a range of extraordinary images and footage, and crucially, establishing the visual identity for such a groundbreaking product."

Or Paritzky, a designer at Wix.com

What was your main challenge in this project?

“Typically, the job of a digital designer is to take something physical and tangible and translate it into the digital realm. My challenge, however, was to translate the immersive and tangible world of VR into a website. This was a challenge because VR offers a limitless experience, while a website is a more structured platform with a defined beginning, middle and end.”

Inspired by the "36 Days of Type" initiative, this project's creators drew the 33 letters of the Ukrainian alphabet, sharing them on Instagram to express solidarity with Ukraine: each letter is presented with artistic flair, capturing the viewer's attention and inviting them to explore further, with an intuitive layout that ensures easy navigation through the content. Interactive elements, such as links to social media and detailed descriptions of the project's goals and progress, enhance engagement.

The website serves not only as a digital gallery, but also as a platform to support Ukraine, seeking partnerships for exhibitions and fundraisers, and promoting Ukrainian culture abroad. The design approach showcases the creative talent behind the project, as well as effectively communicates its message of solidarity and support.

Roee Kuperberg, a project manager at Wix Agency

Roee, what motivated you to design this particular website?

“There aren’t many opportunities to be a part of such a heartwarming story, for such an important cause - and it’s even rarer for it to include a tremendous professional challenge: in this case, the pursuit of calligraphy. I feel that the project contributed to me more than I contributed to it."

What was your main challenge in this project?

At the onset of the war between Russia and Ukraine, 2 Polish designers who were part of Wix's Playground Academy* created an Instagram page, and invited designers from around the world to design the Ukrainian alphabet. Following the project's success, they reached out to us to create a website that would both showcase the project and collect donations. Taking advantage of Editor X capabilities, we enriched the design by animating different sections and adding on scroll behavior.”

Wix Playground Academy is a project that offers advanced design students from all disciplines and backgrounds a space for their creative growth.

Air Production is where creativity takes a flight. Founded by Alexander Haezki, an industrial designer, Air Production specializes in crafting unique and innovative inflatables for design and decor, redefining event aesthetics with their fresh approach. Their website is a creative reflection of this ethos, showcasing an imaginative portfolio of designs. The cool, modern user interface encourages visitors to explore the diverse applications of their inflatables. Interactive elements, such as image galleries and detailed project descriptions, provide an immersive experience that highlights Air Production's dedication to customized event solutions. This online presence, both innovative and dynamic, effectively captures the essence of their brand, creating a visually stunning and memorable experience that parallels the uniqueness of their physical creations.

Nofar Daskal, a senior web designer at Inhouse Agency

Nofar, what motivated you to design this particular website?

“Know that feeling of finding an indie artist so talented, you just need the world to know about them? Well, this is exactly how I felt about Alex, the guy behind ‘Air Production’ who’s also a good friend of mine. I remember exploring their concept and immediately thinking ‘I know what site I’ll design for my ASAY project this year.’”

What was your main challenge in this project?

“My main challenges were to create a website that reflects the uniqueness and innovation of this business, and to create a graphic language that will serve all the various projects and clients of the business - some inflatables are meant for childrens' events, while others are for wild raves.

“I wanted more than just a classic portfolio website for videos and images that will showcase this beauty; I was looking for that special element to highlight the product. To achieve this, we converted the inflatable sketches into 3D images to create a bold and sophisticated browsing experience. I also created a visual language with a minimal black and white palette and grids that refer to 3D programs. Then we added special effects like sticky and hover interactions, which strengthen the playfulness of the brand.”
